WHAT MAKES IT ADVANCED
At Rio Grande Urology, our radiation oncology program is anchored by the Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator, a high-tech platform designed around precision engineering, advanced imaging, and real-time system control.
The TrueBeam system generates high-energy photon and electron beams through a digitally integrated architecture that ensures beam stability, output consistency, and reproducible dosimetry. Its high-definition multileaf collimator (HD-MLC) enables fine beam shaping with sub-centimeter leaf resolution, supporting sharp dose gradients and highly controlled beam geometry.
A defining feature of the platform is its mechanical and geometric accuracy. The gantry, collimator, and treatment couch operate within tight isocentric tolerances, while a six-degree-of-freedom (6DoF) robotic couch allows for precise translational and rotational corrections. This level of control supports sub-millimeter alignment between planned and delivered radiation.
Integrated onboard imaging, including kV, MV, and cone-beam CT (CBCT), provides high-resolution, volumetric imaging directly on the treatment unit. These systems enable rapid image acquisition, reconstruction, and registration within the same high-tech environment, supporting precise localization and verification.
The TrueBeam platform also supports high dose rate delivery, including flattening filter-free (FFF) beam modes, enhancing beam efficiency while maintaining strict dosimetric control. Continuous internal monitoring systems verify beam output in real time.
