BIO
Dr. Farran is a urologist with Rio Grande Urology who has returned home to serve the community that raised him. Born and raised in El Paso, his path in medicine began close to home, earning his undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at El Paso before continuing on to the University of Texas Medical Branch, where he completed both medical school and his urology residency. He was one of a select group inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, an honor reserved for the top students in the country, and he capped his training by being named Outstanding Urology Resident during his chief year, a distinction voted on by the faculty and peers who knew his work best. Dr. Farran is passionate about bringing the most advanced surgical care to patients here in the El Paso region.
He specializes in minimally invasive and robotic surgery, including both multi-port and single-port robotic platforms, as well as advanced endoscopic techniques, allowing patients to benefit from shorter recoveries and excellent outcomes without needing to travel outside the region for leading-edge care. He also has a special clinical interest in men's health, with a focus on prosthetic urology for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and male incontinence.
To bring this level of specialized expertise home, Dr. Farran has trained directly with some of the highest-volume implant surgeons in the country, including completing the Minimally Invasive Infrapubic Approach Education Program through the Perito Urology Institute. As a bilingual physician with deep roots in the local community, Dr. Farran connects with his patients not only as their surgeon, but as a neighbor who understands the community's unique needs and values. It is a privilege for him to care for the very community that shaped who he is today, and he brings that same sense of compassion, respect, and dedication to every patient relationship.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Farran values time spent with family above all. He also puts a strong emphasis on his own health and well-being, staying disciplined about strength and athletic training. This focus on quality of life isn't just personal, it's part of what drew him to urology in the first place: so many of the procedures the field offers exist to help patients live better, more comfortable lives, and he tries to embody that same philosophy in his own daily habits.
